THE DAILY AVERAGE, EXPLAINED

The $62 headline spreads a full year’s spending across all 365 calendar days.
The second figure divides net annual spending by 248 purchase days. Purchase timing can differ from consumption timing, particularly for stored-value reloads.

Scope, precision and checks
- Rolling period: September 15, 2025 through September 14, 2026, inclusive.
- Includes carryout, delivery, coffee, quick-service food and other prepared food.
- Known dine-in meals and alcohol are excluded. Refunds are netted against spending; pending transactions are excluded.
- Transactions were checked for duplicate transaction IDs and same-date/same-amount duplication. The source analysis reported no duplicates.
- Monthly, weekday, category and half-year totals each reconcile to the confirmed annual total. Purchase-day counts reflect the final exclusions.
- Purchase and reload dates measure spending timing, not necessarily meals, visits or consumption.
